My name is
Lance Lumpkin. I was recently elected to be one of the directors on the Indiana Sheep Association board. I wanted to let the members know a few things about myself. I was raised on a Swine farm, in Modoc IN. I was a ten year 4-H member where I exhibited Swine and Beef for ten years and Sheep for one year. I did not get interested in Sheep, until my last year in 4-H. I have been in

Sheep production for thirteen years. Upon graduation from Purdue, in 1997, I started a ten ewe flock at my family farm. My flock remained at the family farm, until 2006, when my wife and I bought a forty acre farm in Economy IN. After purchasing our own farm, we have increased our flock to the current number of fifty commercial and ten registered Southdowns ewes. I run my flock on twelve acres of pasture and graze them on a rotational basis. I do the majority of my lambing in the winter due to selling club lambs off the farm, in the Spring. I also have started doing accelerated lambing, on a select amount of ewes, where I lamb in the Fall and Spring.
I truly enjoy being in Sheep production and I am honored to be on the Indiana Sheep Association board. I am looking forward to meeting sheep producers across the state, while in office. And, I am always available to hear questions or comments that you may have.
