Information on the 2007 Census of Agriculture is now only one click away at http://www.agcensus.usda.gov. The new Web site is a clearinghouse created by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) to provide farmers, ranchers and the rest of the agricultural community with the latest news and information about the upcoming census.

LRP-Lamb Goes On Sale Monday

USDA Harmonized Cattle Trade with Canada

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) today announced that it will expand the list of allowable imports from countries recognized as presenting a minimal risk of introducing bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) into the United States. Currently, Canada is the only minimal-risk country designated by the United States.

Second Outbreak of FMD in the UK

British authorities Wednesday confirmed a new outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease on a farm in Surrey and have restricted animal movement, including cattle, sheep and pigs.

Volunteers Needed for National FFA Convention in Indy

The National FFA Convention is right around the corner. Indianapolis will be hosting this great event for the 2nd year on October 24-27, 2007. The success of this great convention lies in the hard work of many, many volunteers. It take many judges, coordinators, and hospitality teams to help these 55,000 students from across the US feel welcome in Indianapolis and our great state of Indiana. Many of you were once FFA members and can remember your conventions in Kansas City or Louisville.

More Producer Participation Needed in FMD Simulation

In the wake of the recent foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) outbreak in the United Kingdom, researchers at the Center for Animal Disease Modeling and Surveillance (CADMS) at the University of California Davis are calling upon livestock producers to participate in an online survey. The goal of the survey is to collect information for a computer simulation model that will help predict how FMD would spread in the United States and identify the best control strategies for containment.
