A Letter From the National FFA Volunteer Committee

[September 15, 2007]

Dear Friends,

Indianapolis and Indiana are pleased to welcome the National FFA Convention back to Indianapolis for the second year. October 22-27, 2007 will be exciting days as the ‘Blue Jackets’ converge on the Capital of our great state.

The National FFA Convention is the largest convention to be held in Indianapolis. The success of this convention lies largely in the hands of hundreds of volunteers who dedicate time and expertise to ensuring a great experience for over 54,000 students who represent 7,200 chapters from across the United States.

We need your help. First of all, Please be ready to volunteer your time. Whether you judge, help to coordinate events, or oversee any of various activities associated with the National FFA Convention….you will be making an important investment in the lives of our young people. Secondly, we need you to help us recruit many community leaders to volunteer their time. Many volunteers are needed to assist in information booths, accompany tours, assist with ‘day of service’ activities, welcome groups to the city and much more. These volunteers do not need to be experts in agriculture, they need to be excited about young people and about Indianapolis. Please share the great opportunities within your community networks and encourage them to get involved.

As you know, the caliber of students involved in FFA are top-notch. This convention is a tremendous opportunity for the ‘future of agriculture’ to be showcased and for our non-ag publics to see firsthand the tremendous talent that will be leading agriculture into the future. We have a great story to tell….and the National FFA Convention is an important venue to tell the story.

Please encourage your recruits to visit http://www.ffaindy.com to learn more about the FFA. The convention volunteer registration web site is now available to sign up for the over 600 volunteer opportunities. In the meantime, anyone interested in volunteering may contact me at either 317-745-0947 or beth@iali.org .

Thank you so much for your help.
